Corporate Law - Trade Practices Compliance Program
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) recommends businesses implement a Trade Practices Compliance Program. The ACCC states on its website (www.accc.gov.au) that a Trade Practices Act 1974 (TPA) compliance program minimises the risk of violations and improves the performance of a business generally. It also says that attempts by businesses to comply with the TPA may mitigate penalties for any violations that do occur.
Flower and Hart has designed a Trade Practices Compliance Program for our clients and can offer the same program to your business.
You have the choice of two program formats - a program tailored for your business or a generic program that covers all the major issues.
Tailored In-House Program
Flower and Hart will tailor the program to the requirements of your business. We will look at your operations to see which parts of the competition and consumer law are most likely to affect you. The resources will then be produced with the areas of relevance emphasised.
The program will include:
- consultation to familiarise ourselves with your operations
- one hour presentation to your staff on your premises
- hard copy resources on TPA compliance tailored for your business
- questionnaire (available on-line to your business for one year)
- bulletins outlining recent developments in trade practices
Generic Group Program
The program will include:
- one hour group presentation to staff members of your choice at Flower and Hart's premises
- hard copy resources on TPA compliance (generic)
- questionnaire (available on-line for your use for one year)
- bulletins outlining recent developments in trade practices
A major advantage of the program is that it can be delivered for set fees. For full costings of the programs or to obtain more detailed information, please email Robert Cunningham - Managing Partner on robert.cunningham@flowerandhart.com.au
