Graduates
Flower and Hart have a strong focus on the development of talented and driven law graduates. At Flower and Hart, we are dedicated to producing the next generation of legal professionals with a solid grounding of legal knowledge and skills.
Our Program
As a graduate in our training program, you'll gain first-hand experience in civil litigation, property law, commercial and corporate practice. During your 12 month program, you will have at least two rotations. We feel that two longer rotations allow our graduates to develop a more in-depth knowledge and understanding of the distinct areas of law.
This also means our graduates are better informed when deciding which area they wish to move into at the end of their rotations.
As part of your program, we will also coordinate supplementary training and compulsory programmed training as necessary.
Our graduate program complies with the legislative requirements and is approved by the Queensland Law Society.
What can you expect from Flower and Hart as a graduate?
At Flower and Hart, graduates have the opportunity to have "hands on experience". Our graduates are given their own files and have the primary conduct of their files under the supervision of partners. This means that you'll be liaising directly with clients and developing your legal knowledge and skills quickly.
You'll work in a highly motivated and skilled team of lawyers, who are committed to providing excellent service to clients.
Professional Support
As a graduate, you will work closely with other solicitors in your team. Our partners and solicitors have an "open door policy", which means that senior lawyers are always accessible to assist you where necessary.
You will also be allocated a junior solicitor as your "buddy". Your buddy will be able to help you with any day to day queries you may have. Your buddy will also be involved in your training, and ensuring your transition into the Flower and Hart team is as smooth as possible.
Throughout the 12 month program, we conduct regular reviews of your training to ensure that you are gaining experience in all required areas of law.
From a Graduate's Perspective
We have received positive feedback from our most recent graduates.
"...At Flower and Hart, I feel that I have the best of both worlds. I have been able to work directly with large corporate clients on interesting and challenging projects, but I haven't had to sacrifice my sport and social life. I've been able to deal with real legal issues and feel that I am contributing not only to the team, but also the result for the client. My direct contact with clients has been invaluable in allowing me to develop a rapport and relationship with clients. AND all the partners and staff know me by name – I'm not just another face in the hallway..."
